London Tourist Traps – The 8 Most Overrated Places Tourists to go

Top 8 Most Overrated Places in London

London is a unique place. It has maintained its old-world charm while keeping up with modernity. This is evident everywhere in the city, even in hotels near London attractions.

Unfortunately, the places tourists flock to are not always the ones that give an authentic experience in this iconic city. When in London, it’s best to stay away from the most overrated places that tourists tend to go to. These are often overcrowded, noisy and overpriced.

Harrods

Harrods

This may be a world-famous shopping center but it’s not the best place for a true British shopping experience. The prices are simply exorbitant.

Piccadilly Circus

There’s really nothing remarkable to see here. Sure, it may have been an iconic place but today, it’s a junction always jammed with traffic. The small pavement area is also permanently jam-packed with tourists.

221b Baker Street

It’s the fictional home of the fictional Sherlock Holmes. It does not exist so do not expect to see it on the real Baker Street. The better street to be in is Abbey Road, where the iconic Beatles’ photo was taken.

Borough Market

Borough Market

This is a London landmark and is really an exciting place to be in. However, Saturdays are never the best times to go to the Borough. It’s jam-packed with tourists.

Buckingham Palace

Another London landmark you won’t enjoy much on regular days is the Buckingham Palace. Tourists flock to this iconic house all day but nothing much happens there. If you want to go to the Buckingham Palace and truly experience something more exciting than elbowing other tourists for some photos, do some research first. Look up events at the Buckingham to know when best to be there while being a resident at Mowbray Court Hotel Kensington.

Oxford Street

Oxford Street

Avoid this spot at all cost. It’s always full of people. Sure, the shops do offer quite a few great things but getting there is not worth it. The Oxford Street and the Oxford Circus tube station are always terribly packed with people.

The 500-m stretch along the South Bank directly opposite the Westminster

This is a great spot for a photo of Big Ben in the background. However, most tourists stay within this short stretch not knowing what the rest of the South Bank has to offer. Walk further along the South Bank and see the stunning London skyline as it constantly changes.

Leicester Square

The Square is a glamorous movie premier destination. However, if a premier is on, it’s difficult to enter the Square because it’s closed off. Cinema prices are absurd, too.

London has many more to offer than these overrated places. Be more adventurous and try places where you can truly feel the true London vibe but before that, you need to check out for some best accommodation in Kensington London.
